Welcome to the Mse Request and Discussion Forums. Before getting started with posting, please take a quick look at some "laws of the land".

Your feedback and commentary about most any aspect of this site is welcome, let's just keep it constructive.

These guidelines exist because of some unfortunate classes at the school of hard knocks. While it has been suggested by at least one person that incidents could be handled on a "case by case" basis, and that viewpoint certainly has merit, it's much easier to do that if everyone involved has some idea where the baseline is. This forum has a fair number of moderators working in the chat. Everyone's idea of what's permissible differs, and sometimes there are misunderstandings (e.g., someone quotes a line from a movie, and a moderator who isn't familiar with that dialogue boots the user in question out of the chat because the dialogue seemed inappropriate without context). That is the reason why these exist, to try and get everyone on the same sheet of music, hopefully leading to better coordination when it's needed.

Note that these guidelines IN NO WAY govern the conduct that is considered acceptable at a given live broadcast. It is up to the broadcaster to decide what, if any, guidelines they wish to enforce at their broadcast and chat. These only apply to this forum.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. First and foremost...the ability to post on this forum is a privilege and NOT a right.

2. Be polite to others. You may not agree with everyone's viewpoints here and that is fine. Disagreement is fine, just keep it courteous. Personal attacks are grounds for an immediate ban. Do not harass or threaten any member of this forum, whether here or elsewhere. Don't be a bully either. Bullies aren't cool.

3. Religion, politics and even sexuality are all topics that can lead to a civil discussion spiraling out of control very quickly. These topics are generally best avoided.

4. Banning is final. You're done here if you get banned. Do not return. (Likewise, for anyone who is a moderator, doling out a ban should be subject to extremely careful consideration and consensus between all members of a group.)

5. Do not allow others to use your account for any reason. If you suspect your account has been compromised, alert the moderators immediately.

6. Post constructive topics only. Do not create posts or responses that are repetitive.

7. Respect these rules and the spirit in which they are intended. Don't try to sneak around them using technicalities.

8. Moderation is at the discretion of the moderator in question. If you feel a moderator is being unreasonable, please contact the administrator or another moderator.

9. No adult material is to be posted or linked from this forum or server. Remember, there are people both young and old posting to and viewing this forum. The moderators may, but are not obligated to, remove any content that is objectionable or prohibited at their own discretion. See rule 8, above.

10. Respect copyright law. To keep things simple: This means, don't upload it if you didn't create it. Posts that violate copyright must be removed, and users may be banned if problem posts are common.

11. Do not ever post confidential information about anyone. This includes but is not limited to someone's address, phone number, forum password, or hometown. You'll get banned if you do this, and probably subjected to a LOT of negative commentary by other members.

REQUEST RELATED GUIDELINES

Not every broadcaster takes requests, and this can vary from show to show. Shows with "special formats" or that are part of "All Star" shows are less likely to accept requests. If you are unsure, ask the broadcaster or a moderator in the chat.

Make your request once here on the forum, and be patient. Don't wheedle, whine, plead, beg or do anything else generally considered to be "annoying" in the name of getting your request played. This will likely have the opposite effect (your request will be played much later, or maybe even not at all).

Give other people a chance (and don't overwhelm the broadcaster)! It's best to limit the number of requests you make during a show to no more than one or two.

Requests are closed when the broadcaster says they are closed.

MODERATOR GUIDELINES

If you're a member of the forum moderation team, you are being placed at a very high level of trust. Being a moderator is a very serious position. Your actions reflect directly on the community, and can make a lot of difference in how we're viewed by others, especially those who are thinking of joining in on the fun.

In the case of a ban being considered for any forum user, a consensus should be reached amongst multiple members of the moderation team before any ban is put into effect. (There are exceptions to this, such as clear-cut abuse, dealing with threatening conduct, or spam.) Lesser responses should always be utilized first. It's always possible that someone "didn't know", and gentle corrections are much less likely to foster hostility toward the forum. We don't want this to be a hostile place.

In the event that you should become unable to moderate the forum, or feel that you will no longer be able to do a satisfactory job of moderation, please contact any of the other moderators or the forum operator.

SYSTEM RELATED GUIDELINES

This system is operated as a hobby. Hacking and abusing it are prohibited. If you or anyone else do so, you are probably committing a crime and you may be reported to your service provider or permanently banned from accessing this site. In particularly extreme cases, law enforcement agencies may be contacted.

It doesn't matter if you were "only kidding", "goofing around" or "didn't mean to" cause a problem. Compromising the security of this system, attempting to access functions or information that you are not authorized to see is considered a very serious matter. Irresponsible disclosure of security issues is also extremely frowned upon. Please do the right thing--if you find a problem, disclose it properly to a moderator or the forum operator. If you have a fix for the problem, so much the better!

The security of your account on this forum is YOUR responsibility. It is up to YOU to choose a sensible, strong password and keep it a secret. If your believe your account has been compromised, you must contact a moderator or administrator as soon as you know this. And, seriously: don't share your account details with anyone else, not even a moderator or the forum operator.

There is no guarantee of any kind made regarding the services provided by this site. It's operated as a hobby and not professionally. As such, it may operate improperly, cause loss of data or be shut down at any time. Do not store valuable or confidential data on this site. Use your brain and apply some common sense. If you're going to cause trouble, please just leave instead.
